Changelog
What’s new
Every Aaavatar update in plain words: what’s new, what got better and what we fixed. New versions arrive in the app automatically.
v2.0.7
Three new effects
Urban Chic, Blue Drawing and Colored Lines are in the Effects panel now. No update needed.
Urban Chic paints your portrait as a flat, hand-painted fashion illustration, with a new bold hair colour every time you make one.
Blue Drawing turns it into a bold ink portrait in black, white and bright sky blue.
Colored Lines draws you in a few loose marker lines, each in its own colour.
They work in the version you already have: the new effects appear in the Effects panel on their own.
Effects are part of Pro and use 4 credits each.
v2.0.8
Better framing for portraits
Portraits now fill the frame properly, and you’re told clearly what happens during a cloud edit.
Portraits now fill the frame, so no thin empty strip appears below the shoulders.
Photos with lots of hair above the head are framed better.
Before a cloud edit, Aaavatar explains that your photo is sent securely, processed and sent back.
v2.0.9
A cleaner welcome screen
The first screen you see when you open Aaavatar now looks right from the start, even offline.
The welcome screen now shows the Aaavatar blue background straight away.
It’s ready to go even when you’re offline.
v2.0.7
Portraits land centered
A small update: your new portrait now appears centered straight away.
A new photo now appears centered as soon as the background is removed, instead of moving into place a few seconds later.
The first photo you add after an update is ready sooner.
v2.0.5
A calmer wait, and two fixes
A small update: a calmer wait while the background is removed, and two fixes.
Quit during a cloud edit? Next time you open Aaavatar, you now really get the result or your credits back.
While the background is removed, it gently fades in and out around the person in the photo, then fades away when the cutout is ready.
With Reduce Motion on, you only see the final fade.
Add name, Frame and Background now wait until a new photo is fully cut out, so the rename window is never empty.
Opening another portrait during an import no longer pulls you back to the import.
v2.0.6
A faster import
Your photo is there the moment you drop it, and the finished portrait follows in about a second and a half.
Drop a photo and it’s on the canvas right away. The background is removed and your portrait is ready in about a second and a half, instead of four to six.
The first photo you add after opening Aaavatar is quick too.
Photos from an iPhone now come in the right way up.
Dropping a new photo into an open portrait keeps your zoom.
Your library takes less space: Aaavatar keeps your original photo as it was.
v2.0.4
Smoother setup, clearer messages
A shorter setup, clearer messages while Aaavatar works, and cloud edits that never get lost.
Setup has one step less. Aaavatar now always goes for the sharpest cutouts and gets what it needs in the background.
Add more photos than your plan allows and Aaavatar tells you right away, instead of leaving some out without a word.
Quit during a cloud edit? Aaavatar finishes it the next time you open the app. If it can’t, you get your credits back.
While a cloud edit runs, you see it happen on the portrait itself.
If one of our cloud services is down, you get a clear message, and it never costs credits.
Sticker borders are no longer doubled, and balloons keep their string.
New photos no longer come in smaller than the original.
You can send us feedback straight from Settings.
v2.0.3
Generate background is paused
Making a background from a text description kept failing, so we’ve switched it off for now.
The Generate option is hidden until it works reliably. Failed attempts never cost you credits.
Everything else works as before: your own images, the gallery, Unsplash and colours.
v2.0.2
Updates install themselves again
On 2.0.0 or 2.0.1? Download this version once by hand. After that, updates install on their own.
Updates downloaded but didn’t install. Now they do.
If an update fails, Aaavatar tells you and lets you try again or download it yourself.
Your library and settings stay right where they are.
v2.0.1
Bring your Aaavatar 1 library along
Coming from Aaavatar 1? Import your old portraits straight from this Mac.
Go to Settings › Preferences › Migration and choose Import from this Mac.
Your portraits come along with their names, dates and original photos.
Importing twice never gives you doubles.
Moving to a new Mac? You can still import from a backup file.
v2.0.0
