remove.bg is closing its own website. From 1 December 2026, its background removal lives inside Canva, and the remove.bg site, desktop app and self-service API stop working.
What changes on 1 December
Credits expire. Unused pay-as-you-go credits are gone after 1 December, so use them before then.
The desktop app stops. For removing backgrounds from a batch of photos, remove.bg points you to Canva.
The API moves to Leonardo.ai. Enterprise API contracts continue as they are.
Background removal moves into Canva. That’s where remove.bg sends its users.
Moving to Canva
If you removed backgrounds from all kinds of images, products and logos included, Canva is the obvious next step. It’s a full design tool, and background removal is one feature among many. It’s part of the paid plans: Canva Pro costs €12 a month for one person.

Or finish the job on your Mac
A cutout is only half a profile photo. Aaavatar is a Mac app that does the rest: drop in the whole team, everyone gets the same background and the same framing, and you export the set as PNGs for LinkedIn, Slack and email.
