remove.bg is closing its own website. From 1 December 2026, its background removal lives inside Canva, and the remove.bg site, desktop app and self-service API stop working.
What changes on 1 December
Credits expire. Unused pay-as-you-go credits are gone after 1 December, so use them before then.
The desktop app stops. For removing backgrounds from a batch of photos, remove.bg points you to Canva.
The API moves to Leonardo.ai. Enterprise API contracts continue as they are.
Background removal moves into Canva. That’s where remove.bg sends its users.
Moving to Canva
Canva is a design tool for posts, presentations and flyers. Background removal is one feature among many there, and it’s part of Canva’s paid plans.

Or finish the job in a Mac app
