Good to know
LinkedIn shows your photo as a circle almost everywhere: your profile, the feed, search results, comments. You upload a square, so the corners get cut away. Most photos that look wrong on LinkedIn are not badly shot, they are badly cropped for a circle.

Upload a square. Hand LinkedIn a landscape photo and it crops to a square first, then to a circle, and you have no say in what survives.
Give the head room. The circle takes the corners, so keep head and shoulders in the middle with clear space above the hair.
Go bigger than you think. LinkedIn shows the photo small, but a retina screen still wants pixels. 800 x 800 or more stays sharp everywhere; Aaavatar exports at 1024 or 2048.
